Pack to Backpack

Backpacking around the world!

Who’s this?

Hey, I’m Raul, I’ve quit my job, sold my house and all my things and now I am travelling around the world trying to find myself.
This is what you usually hear when you meet people travelling for long periods of time. But, this is not my case. I don’t own a house and I did not sell my things to pay for my travels.

So what’s your story?

The short story of my life is: I grew up in Romania, in a nice city by the Black Sea called Constanta. I moved to Bucharest for my Bachelor studies and then to the UK for a Masters. I got a job in London and I worked for a few years before I realised that life in front of a screen and a keyboard is not too much fun. I’ve got a sabbatical in 2016 and backpacked solo in SE Asia for four months which was the best trip of my life.

Since I am now in my late 20s with no responsibilities, I’ve decided to actually quit my job and explore what the world has to offer. This means that I bought a round the world plane ticket and I will be travelling on four continents for the next few months. I didn’t win the lottery, so this means that I am funding this trip with my own money that I saved from working a 9 to 5 job.

Why are you writing this blog?

Well, I really want to inspire people to travel more and explore different countries, cultures, food and all that stuff. Also, I will be posting a lot of tips on how to travel cheap and some recommended itineraries. I am a solo backpacker, so you won’t find here recommendations for expensive resorts, hotels or Michelin start restaurants.

I am not looking to make any profit from this blog and I will try to keep it personal. I hope you will enjoy it!

Where have you been so far?

I’ve been to 60+ countries so far… and counting. I will try to write about each of these, so if you want to read about my adventures, subscribe to this blog on the right menu.

You can see here a map of countries I visited

Safe travels!
Raul
